SUPPORT TURUCUCHO MILK PRODUCERS
December 2016 - 8 Demonstrative Farms - 53 Families Impacted
República del Cacao have been looking to create a project with the milk producers of Turucucho, a community perched high up in the Andes, which provides us milk for our White Chocolate Ecuador 31%.
After months (years even!) of looking, it has finally become a reality.
Our milk supplier, El Ordeño, and Martin accompanied by our intern Rosa, travelled to the community at the end of November to speak to the producers and establish each and everyone’s role. The project seeks to create eight demonstrative farms – new pastures will be sown and technical support to the farmers will be provided on a monthly basis. As a result, we hope to see an improvement in milk productivity and more incentives to manage farms in a sustainable and environmentally-friendly way. We are very excited to start this long-term collaboration with El Ordeño and the community of Turucucho and look forward to see where it takes us!
