CROPPING ARRIBA TREES

Cropping is a fundamental part of keeping Cacao "Arriba" trees healthy and productive in a natural and responsible way.
La Comunidad Vinces Program is working with four different kinds of cropping that creates beautiful and bountiful trees: shaping, maintenance, phytosanitary and for rehabilitation purposes; each of great importance throughout a trees life.
Considering that many trees live for several hundred years an organized and controlled cropping system is required.
We work directly with 2,000 farmers through door to door assistance and seminars on these four steps. The shape of an Arriba Cacao tree is an important and functional part assuring the most amount of sunlight between the leaves. Maintenance care for its shape, foliage and the elimination of dry and unproductive branches is also required. On the other hand, Phytosanitary cropping consists on removing excessive blossoms, deceased or infected areas and mostly keeping a tree in a healthy state. Finally, cropping for rehabilitation purposes helps us save trees affected by deceases and other natural causes that might affect plantations in time.
La Comunidad Vinces Program gives assistance on Cropping Techniques in order to provide you with the best quality "Arriba Chocolate" you are now enjoying.
